- Bergamot
Sicilian citrus. Sharp, clean, gone in twenty minutes.
- Neroli
Bitter-orange flower. Soft and bright at once.
- Jasmine sambac
Indonesian. Indolic — narcotic, off-axis, alive.
- Iris (orris)
Ground from rhizome. Powdered, expensive, quiet.
- Cedar (Atlas)
Warm wood, slightly smoked. The frame of a room.
- Vetiver
Roots. Smoky, earthy, oddly cool.
- Oud
Resinous wood, animal in places. Used quietly.
- Labdanum
Cistus resin. Honeyed, leathery, dark.
- Ambroxan
Synthetic ambergris. The sea air, indoors.
- Papyrus
Dry and slightly green. Like opening a notebook.
